Malta is one of the most popular family holiday destinations in Europe for families staying in self catering apartments and luxury holiday villas with swimming pools. Malta is a small beautiful island in central Mediterranean Sea. It has year round sunshine and warm temperatures which make it an ideal sun holiday destination.

Three other islands connect to Malta, these are Gozo, Comino and Malta Island. These islands are blessed with eye-catching scenery, year round sun and crystal clear sea. Malta is the perfect holiday spot for people who like to attempt various sports, simply laze on the island cruise or even tour the historic sites. They can also visit the charming villages and the mysterious megalithic temples in Malta.

There are a lot of things to do on the small islands of Malta and Gozo. While there you can stay in one of the many luxury self catering apartments. You can take advantage of the guided tours and see the sites of this amazing country. Tourists can also visit the blue lagoon and Comino which is well worth visiting. Jeep and car hire is also available for you to explore this beautiful island.

Valletta is a 16th century built city and is quite popularly known as the Fortress City, city built by gentlemen for gentlemen. There are a lot of fortunes and faces to Valletta. Being the main capital of Malta, it is the commercial and administrative heart of the islands. You can explore the grid narrow street houses with some of the best finest art works, palaces and churches of Europe. While there you can rent a holiday villa or a self catering apartment in the capital.

Valletta has various cultural programmes and even street events. Tourists can explore the master piece of the history and culture in the theatres, music shows and in the art galleries. Along with the traditional church fiestas, you can also visit the shopping streets having tiny shops. These shops sell maps, books, jewellery, prints and even antiques. There are also historical sites around every shopping street, the niches, fountains, votive statues and many such monuments. In between hectic shopping, you will find a whole load of cafes and restaurants where you can sit back and relax.

Tourists rent a holiday villa or self catering apartment direct from the owner and use this as a base to explore the local sites, the St Angelo Fort in Vittoriosa and the Rinella Fort in Kalkara are must sees whilst holidaying in Malta. Those interested in seeing and observing the history of Malta and its neighbouring Island history, can visit the Maritime Museum which has many exhibits. There are good varieties of paintings, traditional Maltese boats, ship models, nautical instruments and weapons that were used by the migrants.
