Monaco is one of the most popular family holiday destinations for families staying in luxury holiday villas and self catering apartments. It is also ideal for short city breaks. It is less than a square mile but has lots of interesting places to go and see.

Though small in size, the French Riviera is one of the most heavily populated areas in the world. Tourists can stay in holiday villas with swimming pools on the beach or luxury self catering apartments in the city, these are available for rent direct from the holiday home owners.

Monaco is known for celebrities who come and live here along with other wealthy individuals. It is really a remarkable illustration of a state without any natural resources and is a small city which developed into a world class tourist destination.

There are many things to do and see in Monaco. This place is ideally situated for tourists to explore the Provence which is the French Riviera. You can rent a self catering apartment or villa direct from the owner. Other places to visit include The Royal Palace, it is an impressive structure, a Fortress built in the thirteenth century. The Palace at present is the residence of the Sovereign Monaco Prince and his family. But it also has lots of superbly appointed apartments. There are Palace tours which are scheduled when the Prince and his family are not present.

For tourists who are the socializing types, why not rent a holiday villa or luxury apartment and use this as a base to explore the local culture. Monaco is the perfect place and is famous for its music programmes and culture in the world.

For those interested in music why not visit the Opera in Monaco where there is great music and you can enjoy one of the finest theatres in the world. There is the Salle Garnier, which is the exact imitation, only smaller of the Paris Opera House. This place has 524 seats. Similar to Parisian predecessor, the Salle Garnier was designed in the style of Belle Apoque and looks striking.

Some of the best performers have performed here like Enrico Caruso and Nellie Melba. This theatre has also hosted around 45 world premiere opera productions.

Monaco has wonderful breathtaking panoramic viewpoints like the Jardin Exotique. Monaco's mild climate has helped with a variety of flourishing plants in the botanical garden. There is also the Museum of Prehistory and Anthropolog. This museum exhibits various relics from both the pre Roman as well as Roman eras of the region situated within the area.

Many tourists come to Monaco and stay in one of the many luxury villas with swimming pools or self catering apartments especially to see the Formula 1 World Championship Grand Prix. Monaco is known as one of the most difficult circuits and makes a great family day out.
